Run towards risk

Down Jump to Comments

The hallmark of an entrepreneur is that they take risks… while not necessarily for the faint of heart, some risks can be calculated but mostly we run on gut feelings.

One of the things I learned early in life is to run towards risk.  I believe that you have choices and the decisions you make will impact the results you get… only makes sense if you think about it.  A lot of people fail to make decisions, mostly because they are uncomfortable with the risk, or possible results.  People are afraid of success as much as they are afraid of failure!

But if you don’t try, how will you know?  Failure is one of the best teachers in business… something you can’t learn in school.  But with each failure, we must take out the learnings and use them to make us better decision makers as we go forward.

When you run towards risk, you may fail… but if you are persistent, you’ll eventually find a way to get around the big brick wall that you just hit.  Sometimes all you need is a fresh perspective or just some time to think about the challenge ahead.

Success is a beautiful thing… realizing a dream or a goal is one of the best feelings in the world.  But, you won’t enjoy this if you don’t run towards risk.

  • Hello Arshad,

Thank you for sharing this insightful post. Over the years, I’ve failed more times than I’ve succeeded. With each failure, I gained additional insight. Adversity taught me so much.

Failing didn’t make me a failure despite how differently people treated me after every fall. In our society, children are taught that “nobody likes a loser.”

Reading the biblical story about the Prodigal son in the Old Testament Scriptures reassured me that the only losers are the people who fail to overcome their fear of failure and play it safe by avoiding risks.

Everybody knows about the Prodigal son, but how many people know about his brother?

    Manchild
